Over the years ShapeQuest has led in the area of accurate dense stereo matching for 3d modeling. The image stereo matching process has had issues with certain type of surfaces, not unlike the issues that affect laser or structured white light scanning for different types of object surfaces. Over the past several years we have expanded our development refine the process and develop a patent pending hybrid approach.

The dense stereo matching module has been refined to provide an approach to handle different type of surfaces, colors, shapes with very effective tools sets in the software.

You can also use the ShapeScan camera mounting hardware for DSM dense stereo matching in fact you can cycle different scan methods during the scan process. Since the cameras are registered, you can scan objects in DSM in less than a second. ShapeScan allows for the use of a target template to image for automatically registering the images, and calibration, there is no need for placing targets around any object and registering the images in this mode.

The ShapeScan_SM is accessible to virtually any user. Even at a lower price point, it is able to capture large amounts of data at more rapid pace and with greater ease than most competing systems.
